Take a look at Elvis Presley’s final holiday in Hawaii – March 1977. (I have not viewed these pictures previously)
Elvis Presley, the King of Rock and Roll, was known for his love of Hawaii. He first visited the islands in 1957 while stationed there in the Army, and returned many times over the years with his family and friends. His last trip to the Aloha State was in March of 1977, just a few months before his untimely death.
During his vacation, Elvis stayed at the luxurious Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki. He rented out an entire floor of the hotel for himself and his entourage, which included his girlfriend Ginger Alden, his father Vernon Presley, and his stepbrother David Stanley. They enjoyed all that Hawaii had to offer, from beautiful beaches and picturesque landscapes to delicious food and drinks.
Despite being on vacation, Elvis still found time to perform. On March 25th, he took the stage at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center in Honolulu for what would be his last concert ever. The show was a success, with Elvis performing many of his hits and receiving standing ovations from the crowd.
Sadly, just a few months later, on August 16th, 1977, Elvis passed away at the age of 42. But his love for Hawaii and the memories he made there live on. Today, visitors can still see the suite where he stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village and even take a tour of some of the locations where he filmed his famous movies, such as Blue Hawaii.
